It's important to me to acknowledge that music is not a completely systematic construct - it is (at least similar to) a language. Languages have rules, but also many exceptions and idiosyncrasies. This project is a work in progress, and while a fundamental goal of this project is pedagogy, the long-term vision is for a tool that might also be useful for performers as well. Achieving that goal will not be possible with algorithms alone.

I will need the input and perspective of real, experienced performers and teachers - people who know the language of jazz and music in a real world context, and not just in the abstract. This project should ideally not become a kluge of exceptions and special cases, but some of those will be necessary to create expressive, natural, and realistic arrangements.

If you are an experienced performer or teacher and you have feedback on the results of this project, please don't hesitate to get in contact. I'd love to hear your thoughts and ultimately I'd love to turn this into something that's useful for musicians of all levels!
